Hepatitis C - Zinc
Zinc (polaprezinc) 150 mg/d (33.9 mg elemental zinc) in two divided doses after breakfast and before bed along with vitamin C 600 mg/d and vitamin E 300 mg/d, and, combination therapy with pegylated interferon alpha-2b and ribavirin decreased serum ALT levels to within the normal range, decreased plasma TBARS and prevented a decrease in PUFA on the erythrocyte membrane indicating that polaprezinc had induced antioxidative functions in the liver resulting in reduced hepatocyte injury.
