Pancreatitis (acute) - selenium - 22503 Selenium 1000 mcg (from sodium selenite) in 3 to 6 liters of intravenous fluids with carbohydrates and electrolytes (no calcium) on the first day; second day 500 mcg. Analgesics via enemas 3 times per day. Efficacy of treatment can be seen by the rapid lowering of malondialdehyde in the blood and the normalization of calcium values.
