Omega-3 fatty acids (eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5 ω-3), docosahexaenoic acid (22:6 ω-3) ) reduce atopic sensitization while omega-6 fatty acid excess (arachidonic acid (AA; 20:4 ω-6)) increase inflammatory mediators and increase atopic expression; approximate 1:1 omega-3/omega-6 ratio is optimal.
